Comolli's first two seasons in “The League” could not have been more different. In 2011-12, Comolli clinched a playoff spot the last week of the regular season and advanced to the semifinals before falling to eventual champion DBuddaZ. In 2012-13, it suffered through a variety of injuries, none bigger than to second-round pick Andrew Bynum and seventh-round pick Amar’e Stoudemire. Bynum sitting out the whole season probably would have doomed any team’s season and it certainly stopped Mongillo's a Snitch from making consecutive playoff appearances.
It put an emphasis on big men heading into Draft Day for the 2013-14 season, a strategy that helped it get back to the playoffs for the second time. After getting some postseason revenge against DBuddaZ, Comolli upset the second seed to advance to its first championship game. It came up short of the ultimate prize by losing to Black Kemba, but it proved that it can be a title contender moving forward. It followed up its first championship appearance with its second straight playoff berth in 2014-15, but it lost in the quarterfinals for the first time. It took a step back the following season, entering the new campaign with arguably the worst keepers in "The League" and it showed with its season ending without a playoff berth for the first time in three years.
That trend continued five seasons ago with Comolli putting an offseason emphasis on acquiring draft picks at the expense of its keepers. That strategy quickly backfired and led to a full rebuild in which it sacrificed talent for future prospects. While it suffered through another losing season, Comolli acquired the keepers necessary to compete in the future. It did just that the following two seasons, getting back to the postseason in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 2013 and 2014 seasons. It got back to its second final four seasons ago following the best regular season in franchise history, but it ran out of gas and was overmatched in the championship.
